Australian Mini Trial 74 - Results
Trial Hosted by Taka and Magnus.
The four remaining tourists gather around Saxton Hale and Skippy to share your tentative theories regarding Cecilia Alcott’s mysterious disappearance. After a few minutes of cordial discussion and irrational ideas - a few of which cause dissent and protest in your group -, you all come to a collective, if not unanimous, agreement; the culprit must have been none other than Queen Elizabeth the Second, and she used Australia’s kangaroo population as spies and human traffickers to kidnap the noblewoman and transfer her overseas!
The Queen naturally protested her innocence, turning towards each of you in turn to plead her case. One by one you all shied away, or simply remained silent - until the Queen attempted to convince Saxton Hale and Skippy directly of her lack of guilt.
“So you think this frail old woman cut Cecillia’s harness?” Saxton Hale asked the rest of you aloud whilst resolutely ignoring the Queen’s words. “Well, it works for me. Rest of you, stand back. I hope you’re ready for an autograph from Saxton Hale’s fists!”
The Queen gasped and stumbled back, and her corgis leapt forward, loudly barking in Saxton Hale’s direction. The rest of you took a step back as a loud rumbling filled the air, although nobody seemed to expect what happened next.
Saxton Hale waited a moment longer before yanking the Queen to her feet, the monarch unrecognisable from her former self. Her skin was bloated and changing colour, and every breath she heaved sounded painful. “You’ll live,” Saxton Hale decided, and turned to face the rest of you. “Australia doesn’t treat identified criminals all that well, so let this be a lesson for you all; don’t get caught.”
Saxton Hale seemed to wink in your direction as he said that, and although a terrible suspicion fell upon you all there was nothing else to be done. Queen Elizabeth the Second had suffered a terrible punishment for Cecilia Alcott’s disappearance, and with all said and done she had been…
As the rest of you left the Queen to Saxton Hale and Skippy's questionable care, you figured dinner at the former Maccas - newly rechristened as ‘Tim Hortons’ according to the sign outside - was in order. As Captain Canuck served cheap coffee for you all, you all discussed the exciting beginning to this Australian Holiday. The next day you would all take the bus to Uluru, just the four of you, and likely determine whatever would happen with that expensive-sounding Australium ingot. Not until later would you learn the real culprit was still among you all, serving coffee and smelling faintly of maple syrup.

The ground seemed to shake, and a spiked tail pierced through the ground. In moments an entire nest of scorpions revealed themselves, surrounding the Queen entirely. For a moment she stood still, hoping the scorpions would leave if unprovoked - a hope shattered when her corgis continued to bark. They tore themselves free from the Queen’s grip, the harness’s leash falling away… the Queen tried to follow, but a moment later she fell on the ground, crying in pain as a scorpion stung her. Only when the entire nest approached and began to attack her all over did she finally start screaming.
